The Lowcountry is known for its anarchy. With this comes little unity among those living within its surprisingly rigid borders, save for a small number of clans, few, if any, of which are of any notoriety outside their membership. There is a shaky agreement with the Espyn Council that, it says, allows for the continued feral state of this region: if its lawlessness does not spill past the former borders of Überrest--the peaceful farming town which, three to four centuries ago, was lost to rumors of a powerful artifact which never did surface--the full might of its members would not be brought down to civilize the Lowcountry. Those within that strange border, however, often believe that this is simply strong talk--for without law, there are no checks on the power one might learn, and so it could be said that the Council simply fears the bloody war which would ensue.

Whatever the case, the lawless nature of the Lowcountry means that strength is the highest rule, to put it in higher terms. In effect, this rule is simple barbarism; lives are too often taken simply because people are able to take them. For the most part, the landscape reflects a certain simplicity in the 'townsfolk'; what roads exist are either worn-through wagon trails or the broken, unreliable setts which remain from the old farm town. These roadways are often seen to stop abruptly, giving way to plains, forestry and bodies of water seemingly at random. What would've been a bonafide residential community in a reasonable region may stop inexplicably after four houses; there may be miles of land which boast only a shabby tavern and inn, though much more could be readily supported.

Much of the architecture is left over from Überrest, and holds the skeletal Tudorbethan appearance, often for the simple fact that those erecting the buildings lack the creativity to draw up anything different. There are some noted exceptions, of course, for without government organization, why in the world would anyone agree upon a 'look' for the area? Yet, quite a lot, the buildings will prove hastily constructed, for the bulk of them seem to be taverns, a fact which sees some in the Council's cities sneeringly refer to the area as 'The Tavern District'.

(OOC NOTE: This setting was made to explain the state of the old Yahoo user rooms and, hell, what RP is still like there when people do it. You know, people can kill each other, enslave each other, steal liquor and burn down buildings because their players have nothing better to do, and there will never be any whiff of soldiers or anything to stop it.)
